Estate Planning

Simses & Associates’ primary focus is to help our clients meet their goals regarding the disposition of their assets and the way those assets are preserved and managed for surviving spouses and future generations.

Representation of a client and the client’s family typically spans a number of years and generations. Our approach begins with an in-depth analysis of the client’s goals and desires regarding the distribution of assets. We review the potential impact of state and Federal laws on the client’s estate - including the gift, estate and generation skipping transfer tax laws – and we explain how we can structure the client’s estate plan to minimize the tax impact.

Once we understand our client’s objectives, and come to an agreement with our client as to the best approach for meeting those objectives, we propose an estate plan designed for that client. After the plan is agreed to in concept, we prepare the documents necessary to put the plan into effect. These may include wills, living wills, living trusts, charitable trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, family limited partnerships, charitable foundations, deeds, powers of attorney, designation of health care surrogate, qualified personal residence trusts, and insurance planning. After our client reviews the draft documents and we discuss any questions the client has or revisions that may be necessary, we prepare final documents and meet with the client for signing.
