Domicile Planning:

Domicile, or where a person intends to make his or her permanent home, is an extremely important concept in tax planning. Our attorneys are frequently involved in the selection of a client’s domicile and the protection of the chosen domicile. Domicile planning involves analysis of the tax benefits and consequences inherent in choosing a particular state as one’s domicile. Furthermore, the potential for a competing state to claim that the client is “domiciled” in that state must be fully analyzed. These matters are generally complex and can result in multiple tax issues, including additional state income and death taxes, if not properly planned.
